A little over two years after signing with the Seattle Sounders in December 2014, former defender Tyrone Mears thanked supporters on Twitter for their support over his two seasons in Seattle.
The 33-year-old played two seasons with the Rave Green, leading the team with 33 starts at right back in 2015. After joining the club as a discovery signing in late 2015, he picked up 2,960 minutes in his first season in MLS and scored one goal and had six assists across regular season and playoffs while with the club.
Mears made the jump to MLS after a lengthy career in England, with time at Bolton Wanders, Burnley, Derby County, West Ham United and Preston North End. His option was declined by Seattle at the end of the 2016 season.
