The Seattle Sounders are hosting the Portland Timbers on Saturday (7:30 p.m. PT; Watch on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360AM | TICKETS) at Lumen Field. Here are five reasons to watch the two team’s third and final meeting of the 2023 season.
Final Meeting
September 2 will be the final match between the Sounders and the Timbers this MLS regular season. The Timbers defeated the Rave Green at Providence Park back on April 15 before the two sides played to a draw a scoreless draw at Lumen Field on June 3. The Sounders are looking to close out the series with a victory over their rivals from the South. A win on Saturday would see the Sounders within touching distance of winning Cascadia Cup going into their match against the Whitecaps on October 7.
Building off momentum
The Sounders are returning home after picking up four points from their recent two-game road trip, including a 2-1 victory over Austin FC on Wednesday. With a win under their belts heading into the weekend, the Seattle squad is determined to bring that same energy to Saturday’s match against the Timbers.

Yeimar reaches milestone
Yeimar has been a vital asset to the Sounders squad since his arrival in 2020. Should he be selected, Saturday's match would mark the central defender’s 100th MLS regular season start with the Rave Green.
