SEATTLE, WASH. – Seattle Sounders FC 2 Head Coach Ezra Hendrickson has been named as an Assistant Coach of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines National Team ahead of its set of 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. As part of Group C for CONCACAF Qualifying, St. Vincent is set to face the United States, Guatemala and Trinidad and Tobago twice each – home and away – between November, 2015 and September, 2016. St. Vincent kicks-off its Qualifying run against the United States on November 13 in St. Louis at Busch Stadium (3:30 p.m. PT / ESPN2, WatchESPN, UniMás, UDN).
“I am very honored and privileged that my country sees a purpose in having me on the staff,” said Hendrickson. “As a coach, you always want to enhance your knowledge and experience to get better and I am very thankful for the opportunity to give back to my country and help the quest to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.”
Hendrickson, a St. Vincent native, previously captained the Vincy Heat through 1998, 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cup Qualifying. He earned his first cap for the team in 1995 and finished with 123 appearances and two goals as a defender before retiring from professional soccer in 2008.
After six years as an Assistant Coach with Sounders FC, Hendrickson was appointed as the Head Coach of the club’s USL side. In S2’s inaugural season, he led the club to a berth in the USL Playoffs, as well as the Fourth Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Overall, Hendrickson led his side to a 15-13-3 record across all competitions in its inaugural campaign.
As a player, Hendrickson won three MLS Cups with three different teams. He also won the Supporters’ Shield three times, the CONCACAF Champions’ Cup and the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
