Earlier this week, Sounders FC forward Clint Dempsey and midfielder Brad Evans traveled to Carson, Calif., for U.S. National Team training camp. The latter is headed home early, however, as Evans was diagnosed with tendinitis in his left knee.
The Seattle captain was forced to withdraw from this month’s camp, the first training camp in 2015 for the USA. Evans will return to Seattle in order to heal in time for Sounders FC training camp.
Evans, who has 17 caps for the U.S. National Team, was a member of the 30-man preliminary roster ahead of last summer’s FIFA World Cup. He scored the game-winning goal against Jamaica on June 7, 2013, in a World Cup qualifier.
Dempsey will remain at the USA training camp, which lasts until early February. The team will play international friendlies with Chile on January 28 and Panama on February 8.
