SEATTLE, WASH. – Seattle Sounders FC forward Clint Dempsey has been called in to the U.S. Men’s National Team for a friendly against Honduras on October 14 in Boca Renton, FL. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. PT at FAU Stadium and will be broadcast live on ESPN, WatchESPN, and UniMas.
Dempsey is one of six changes to Head Coach Jurgen Klinsmann’s squad that drew, 1-1, against Ecuador on Friday evening. He joins Sounders FC defender DeAndre Yedlin, who played 90 minutes and recorded an assist on Mix Diskerud’s fifth-minute goal against Ecuador.
Dempsey, 31, ranks ninth all-time with 109 caps and second with 39 career goals for Team USA. This marks his first call-up since starting all four games and scoring two goals at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
He and Yedlin are expected to re-join Sounders FC later in the week ahead of next Sunday’s match at the LA Galaxy. Kickoff is at 5:30 p.m. PT at StubHub Center.
