Former Seattle Sounders defender DeAndre Yedlin is on his way to Newcastle, according to multiplereports.
Yedlin was photographed arriving at Newcastle airport Tuesday ahead of a physical for his new club, where he is expected to be transferred for £5 million. He is also reportedly at St. James' Park to watch Newcastle's match with Cheltenham on Tuesday evening in the second round of the Football League Cup.
The 23-year-old United States international joined Spurs in early 2015, but only made one appearance with the club. He was loaned to Sunderland where he spent most of the 2015-16 English Premier League campaign, but his move to the Magpies is expected to be a permanent one.
Newcastle competes in the Football League Championship, England's second division. It was relegated after finishing in 18th place in the EPL last season.
Yedlin spent the 2013-14 MLS seasons with the Sounders, appearing in 56 regular-season games. A native of Seattle, Yedlin was a Homegrown Player and came up through the Sounders' youth academy.
