A Sounders legend, an American hero.
Kasey Keller is arguably the best goalkeeper that the United States has ever produced. After an illustrious career in Europe consisting of 17 seasons in top flight leagues, Keller moved back home to Seattle as the Sounders second signing as a new MLS expansion franchise.
As a member of the Sounders, Keller made 93 appearances over three seasons, winning three Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cups and qualifying for playoffs all three years. In his final season in 2011, Keller was named MLS Goalkeeper of the Year and honored with a spot on the MLS Best XI. He retired on November 3, 2011.
Now, five years later, Keller is still playing an integral role for the club as both a broadcaster and an ambassador. You can hear Keller’s voice on local Sounders' broadcasts throughout the season as a color analyst next to play-by-play commentator, Keith Costigan.
As former play-by-play commentator Arlo White once said of Keller, “You will not see better goalkeeping anywhere in the world!”
