When you score three goals in a match, you are going to get some attention.
Darwin Jones did just that, and his efforts earned him USL Player of the Week honors for Week 2. Jones scored three goals in his first professional appearance last weekend against Whitecaps FC 2, which helped the Rave Green to a 4-0 win.
This is the second week in a row an S2 player has earned the honor, with midfielder Pablo Rossi earning the award in Week 1 for his performance (including a beautiful free kick goal) against Sacramento Republic FC.
Jones earned 38 percent of the vote, which was conducted by a national panel of independent media representing every USL market.
With a bye week this weekend, S2 won't be able to go 3/3 in the first three weeks of the season, but will look to continue the trend in Week 4 against Timbers 2 on April 11 in the third of their opening three-game homestand.
