SEATTLE, WASH. – Seattle Sounders midfielder Danny Leyva has been named to the U-20 U.S. Men’s National Team roster for the upcoming Revelations Cup. The tournament takes place in Celaya, Mexico from November 7-17. Leyva is set to depart following Sounders FC’s Decision Day matchup at Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Sunday, November 7 (3:00 p.m. PT / FOX 13+, Univision-Seattle, Prime Video, KJR 1090 AM, El Rey 1360 AM.)
Leyva already has international experience under his belt, previously playing with the U-17 USMNT squad in the U-17 FIFA World Cup in Brazil in 2019, starting all three games. Also in 2019, the U-17 squad finished second place in Concacaf U-17 Championship, where Leyva had seven appearances for a total of 545 minutes.
The Revelations Cup features four top U-20 teams in the United States, Brazil, Mexico and Colombia. The teams are set to compete in a round-robin schedule format, with the winner determined by the most overall points after the six games are completed.
The U-20 USMNT plays Brazil on November 10, Colombia on November 13 and Mexico on November 16. This marks the first training camp for the U-20s in preparation for the 2022 Concacaf U-20 Championship, which serves as the qualification for both the FIFA U-20 World Cup and the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
Leyva has eight starts in 23 MLS appearances in 2021, amassing eight shots in 834 minutes played. The Las Vegas native has played in 33 games for Sounders FC since signing a First Team contract in 2019, on top of 22 USL appearances for Tacoma Defiance going back to 2018.
Seattle finishes its regular season with a Decision Day matchup against Vancouver Whitecaps FC at BC Place on Sunday, November 7 (3:00 p.m. PT / FOX 13+, Univision-Seattle, Prime Video, KJR 1090 AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
