The Seattle Sounders are taking on FC Dallas on Saturday in their first meeting of the 2022 MLS regular season. Here’s everything you need to know:

WHEN AND WHERE: Kickoff is at 5:38 p.m. PT at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Tex. 

WHERE TO WATCH: The match will be televised on FOX 13+ and Prime Video.

PREVIOUS MEETING: The Seattle Sounders secured a 1-0 victory over FC Dallas on August 18, 2021. Fielding a heavily rotated side for a midweek match on the road, the Sounders kept things level until substitute Raúl Ruidíaz scored the game-winning goal in the 63rd minute. On the field for just 38 seconds, the Peruvian striker delivered a moment of magic has he curled a shot into the top corner to secure three massive points on the road.

STRONG SHOWINGS: Since entering Major League Soccer in 2009, the Rave Green have posted a 13-7-8 record against FC Dallas. 

POSTSEASON RIVALRY: The Sounders have played a number of massive matches against Dallas over the years. Seattle defeated the Texas club in a 4-3 thriller in the 2019 postseason before eliminating Dallas again the following year 1-0 in the Western Conference Semifinals en route to back-to-back MLS Cup appearances. 

FUTURE IS BRIGHT: Seattle and Dallas boast two of the most productive youth academies across all of MLS. Both teams have given significant minutes to young players in league play the last couple of years and have contributed numerous players to the United States Men’s National Team, including the likes Jordan Morris, Cristian Roldan, DeAndre Yedlin, Weston McKennie, Ricardo Pepi and Jesus Ferreira.

LINEUP CHOICES: Coming off a historic Concacaf Champions League Final victory on Wednesday, Head Coach Brian Schmetzer will likely make some lineup changes for Saturday’s clash. A mixture of veterans like Will Bruin and Fredy Montero will be in contention for minutes alongside younger players like Josh Atencio and Danny Leyva.

FAST & FURIOUS: Following Saturday night’s match, the Sounders will wrap up a three-game week on Wednesday, May 11 as they take on the San Jose Earthquakes in the U.S. Open Cup at Starfire Stadium.
