PREVIOUS MEETING: The Sounders and FC Dallas played to a 1-1 draw at Lumen Field on July 15 behind an own goal from Sam Junqua and an equalizer from Bernard Kamungo.
FRESH LEGS: The Sounders return to action following a bye last weekend. Seattle could use the extra rest ahead of a three-match road trip that starts in Dallas before stops in Colorado on Sept. 20 and Nashville on Sept. 30.
RETURN FROM INTERNATIONAL DUTY: Raúl RuidÃaz (Peru), Alex Roldan (El Salvador) and Nouhou (Cameroon) all represented their national teams during this FIFA window. RuidÃaz did not play in a scoreless draw with Paraguay in the first of two World Cup qualifiers, but he entered as a substitute in a 1-0 loss to Brazil. Roldan started both matches for La Selecta, a 2-0 loss to Guatemala and a 3-2 loss to Trinidad and Tobago in Concacaf Nations League play. Nouhou started in a 3-0 win over Burundi to help Cameroon qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations.
STUART SIGNS: Seattle signed its 23rd Homegrown Player on Wednesday when the club announced the addition of Stuart Hawkins. The 16-year-old defender and Academy product joins the First Team after nearly two years with Tacoma Defiance.
DEFENSIVE FORTITUDE: The Sounders and FC Dallas boast the top two defensive records in the Western Conference, having allowed only 29 and 30 goals, respectively. Only Nashville SC has allowed fewer goals than Seattle and Dallas.
ONE-MAN ARMY: FC Dallas is led up front by United States national team forward Jesús Fereira. The 22-year-old leads FCD with 10 goals on the season, while no one else on the team has tallied more than four.
HOME TURF: The Sounders have only won one of their last 12 trips to Frisco (1-8-3), including the playoffs, since September 2014. Dallas has only lost at home three times in its last 25 home matches in all competitions and is unbeaten in its last six.
MISSING STAR: Dallas will be without playmaker Alan Velasco, who was ruled out ahead of the match due to a right calf injury. The 21-year-old was coming off his first Argentina call-up alongside the likes of Lionel Messi and Thiago Almada and is one of the best young players in MLS.
