JG3_0926-2

The Seattle Sounders are visiting FC Dallas on Saturday in the second match of their best-of-three first round postseason series. Here is everything you need to know:

WHEN AND WHERE: Kickoff is at 6 p.m. PT at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.

WHERE TO WATCH: The match will be available to watch on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.

WHERE TO LISTEN: The match will air on iHeartMedia Seattle, Siriusxm 157 and El Rey 1360AM.

MATCH ONE RESULT: The Sounders defeated FC Dallas 2-0 at Lumen Field on Monday behind goals on either side of halftime from Albert Rusnák and Jordan Morris.

ADVANCING SCENARIO: Seattle will advance to the Western Conference semifinals vs. either LAFC or the Vancouver Whitecaps with a win in Texas this weekend. An FC Dallas win would force a decisive third match back in Seattle on Nov. 10. If the match in Dallas ends in a draw, there will be no extra time, and the contest will go straight to penalty kicks to determine a winner. There is no aggregate scoring, so the Sounders’ two goals in the first match do not roll over into the second.

WATCH PARTIES: While the Sounders battle in Dallas, fans can attend numerous watch parties across the state of Washington. Click here to find a participating bar near you.

DOUBLE-DIGIT STREAK: The Sounders are now 10 matches unbeaten in all competitions, the first time they have gone double-digit matches without a loss since they rattled off 13 in a row to start the 2021 regular season. Seattle’s win on Monday also snapped FC Dallas’ own nine-game unbeaten run.

DEFENSE SHINES AGAIN: As it has all season, Seattle’s defensive prowess carried it to victory in the opening match. The Sounders posted their third consecutive clean sheet, their 15th on the year after leading MLS in shutouts during the regular season.

CRISTIAN EFFECT: Sounders midfielder Cristian Roldan drew the opening penalty that Rusnák converted to give the Sounders an opening-match lead they wouldn’t relinquish. Roldan, who missed a sizable chunk of the season to both injury and international duty, has been arguably the team’s most consistent contributor. The Sounders have only lost once in MLS play all year (9-1-7) when Roldan has made an appearance, with the only loss coming at eventual Supporters’ Shield-winners FC Cincinnati in March.

DALLAS DESTROYER: Morris tallied his seventh career postseason goal on Monday, four of which have come against FC Dallas. Morris recorded the club’s first career postseason hat trick when he struck three times in the opening round of the 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs, en route to Seattle collecting its second league title.

VELASCO INJURED: Head Coach Nico Estévez’s job has become all the more difficult as he’ll try and replace star playmaker Alan Velasco. The Argentine, who recently earned his first senior international call-up, exited in the first half against the Sounders on Monday and will reportedly miss extended time. He is one of the league’s brightest young talents, topping MLS’ 22 Under 22 list this year as the best player in MLS under the age of 22.
