POTENTIAL PLAYOFF MATCHUP: If the season ended prior to this weekend, Saturday’s contest would be a first round playoff match between the third-seed Sounders and sixth-seed Rapids.

FIRING ON ALL CYLINDERS: The Sounders are the most in-form team in MLS with an 11-2-2 record in their last 15 matches. Their 35 points are the most in the league and one ahead of Supporters’ Shield-winning Inter Miami.

RUSNÁK APPROACHING HISTORY: Sounders attacking midfielder Albert Rusnák recorded his 14th and 15th assists of the season in a 3-0 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps on Wednesday. That set a career high for the Slovakian, who is now just one behind Nicolás Lodeiro for the club’s single-season record set in 2018.

ANOTHER FREI MILESTONE: Seattle goalkeeper Stefan Frei earned his 10th clean sheet of the season on Wednesday, becoming just the second goalkeeper in league history (Nick Rimando) to record five seasons of double-digit shutouts.

WIDE OPEN CONTESTS: Colorado plays some of the most open soccer in MLS. The Rapids are fourth in the Western Conference in both goals scored (59) and goals allowed (56). Their goal differential of +3 is also the lowest of any team in a playoff position in the West.

GOAL CREATION: The Rapids are first in MLS in Expected Goals (65.94), meaning they have created more goalscoring chances than anyone else in the league. They have underperformed that number, though, by nearly seven full goals.

PLAYER TO WATCH: Djordje Mihailovic, M

The United States international has recorded a double-double this season, posting 11 goals and 14 assists. Mihailovic returned to MLS after a one-year stint with AZ Alkmaar in the Dutch Eredivisie.
