U.S. Soccer announced rosters on Tuesday for a series of upcoming domestic camps, with Jordan Morris, Cristian Roldan, Danny Leyva and Abad Vargas all earning call ups to their respective sides.
Ahead of the final roster announcement for FIFA World Cup 2022 on November 9, the U.S. Men's National Team is holding a two week fitness camp in Frisco, Tex. for MLS-based players still in contention for the tournament in Qatar who are no longer in league competition. Running from October 25 - November 9, the camp presents an opportunity for Morris and Roldan to maintain their fitness levels with hopes of being included on the final roster for the World Cup.
After impressing with the Sounders First Team down the stretch in the MLS regular season, Leyva earned a call up to the U.S. U-20 Men's National Team for the final camp of the year. The camp will run concurrently with the USMNT fitness camp in Frisco, and Leyva is one of just 16 players to earn inclusion on the roster. The squad has already qualified for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup and 2024 Paris Olympics after winning the Concacaf U-20 Championship this past summer.
Sounders Academy forward Abad Vargas earned his first invite to a camp for the Stars & Stripes on Monday when he was named to the U.S. U-15 Men's Youth National Team for a week-long camp at the National Development Center in Kansas City, Kan. The younger brother of Homegrown Player Obed Vargas, Abad recently joined the Sounders Academy from Anchorage, Alaska.
