Doubleheader will feature Panama versus Martinique and Mexico versus Canada
SEATTLE, Wash. - CONCACAF officials announced today the national teams representing Canada, Martinique, Gold Cup defending champion Mexico and Panama will play 2013 Gold Cup matches on the Xbox Pitch at CenturyLink Field on Thursday, July 11. Kickoff for Panama versus Martinique is at 5:30 p.m. PT immediately followed by Mexico versus Canada at 8 p.m. PT.
Tickets for the Gold Cup Group A matches will go on sale next Thursday, March 21 at 10 a.m. Tickets will be available through Ticketmaster.com, Ticketmaster by phone (800-745-3000) and the CenturyLink Field Box Office. One ticket will be good for both matches.
The tournament format will again feature a 12-team field divided into three four-team groups. The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals along with the two best third-place teams.
The Gold Cup, previously hosted in Seattle in its 2005 and 2009 editions, is a 12-team competition held every two years that serves as North America's top international competition. The United States, Canada and Mexico qualified automatically, and will be joined by Cuba, Trinidad & Tobago, Haiti and Martinique from the Caribbean, Costa Rica, Honduras, Belize, El Salvador and Panama from Central America.
