There will be pink ribbons all over the field and in the stands when Sounders FC meets Whitecaps FC on Wednesday to celebrate National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Sounders FC will honor National Breast Cancer Awareness Month on Wednesday night against Vancouver Whitecaps FC with several activities in and around CenturyLink Field.
Volunteers from the local chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha will be at the gates, greeting fans and distributing 10,000 pink ribbons. At the Pro Shop, limited edition Breast Cancer Awareness scarves and pins will be available throughout the month, with 10-percent of the sales being donated to the local chapter of Gilda’s Club.
On the field, Seattle and Vancouver will be playing with the commemorative pink adidas Prime 2013 Official Match Ball, the goals will be adorned with pink nets and the corner flags will also be pink. Players and referees will be wearing pink ribbon patches along with pink shoelaces and sweat bands. Even the Gatorade towels used on the sideline will be pink and coaches will wear pink MLS WORKS knit scarves.
All of these measures are taken to help raise awareness and funds for breast cancer and research.
