Sounders FC is set to take on Toronto FC in the team's only MLS regular-season match of the month at home in Seattle. Sounders captain Brad Evans shares his thoughts ahead of Saturday evening's match in his latest edition of Captain's Notes.
Opportunity is the key word for us as we go into this game against Toronto. We had a good result last Sunday against our rivals. It wasn’t the best of games, but sometimes you have to roll up your sleeves and just get the job done and get the points. Last week, we were in desperation mode. We knew if we lost that one, we would have a massive hill to climb. We also realize that we are not even close to being in the clear yet. That’s our focus over the next few weeks.
We have a game on Saturday at home and we know that we need to get as many points as we can at home.
We could be getting a few new faces back in the starting lineup this weekend. That is a massive boost. If we can get Ozzie [Alonso] back in the mix like he was against Portland, we will be in great shape. He was a great contributor and controlled the tempo of the game. Clint Dempsey is on his way back and that helps.
We have to come out with the same attitude we did last week. We have to put it all out there and we need to sacrifice for each other. We have to get the job done.
The key word is opportunity. This is one of those games. We have to treat it with a bit of desperation but we need to remember to play good soccer. That will help us make a solid run for the playoffs. We hope you’ll be out in numbers. Let’s make this a fortress.
Let’s go, Sounders!
