Less than a week after a big win against Orlando City SC at home, the Rave Green head to Salt Lake City to take on Western Conference side Real Salt Lake. Sounders captain Brad Evans shares his thoughts ahead of the match in this edition of Captain's Notes.
Before Orlando, we said this is where we stop the bleeding. It was a full team effort and it was great to have all the guys back out there healthy and to get the three points. The four goals and a shutout topped that day off. Running into this week, we know it’s a very difficult time to face Real Salt Lake. You face teams at different points in the season and right now, this is a team that needs to get wins. We also need them. We have to do a lot of work to get ourselves in a good position going into the playoffs. That starts tomorrow.
They’re not the only ones [who are] hungry. We are too. We aren’t even close to being in the clear yet. Having key players back healthy has helped us against Orlando and I thought our two strikers did well. Our defense played to zero and that was awesome. It took all of our energy to get a positive result on Wednesday against CD Olimpia, but luckily we were able to rest a few guys.
On Saturday, we get after it. We’re at altitude and we’re away from home, so we know we have to play smart. At the end of the day, it’s all about us and getting the result.
Let’s go, Sounders!
