Sounders FC's three-match homestand comes to a close on Sunday afternoon as the team faces the New York Red Bulls. Sounders defender and captain Brad Evans reflects on the team's homestand and previews Sunday's matchup.
This week we're facing New York Red Bulls, a team that started off its season extremely well and didn't lose in the first seven matches. They haven't found the results they wanted in their past two games but they are a team coming off a week-long rest. We had a mid-week game so in their minds, they may think they have an advantage. We have to be mentally tough and be able to dig in and fight for each other.
If that means making some changes, it means making those necessary changes. Other than that, we come home to CenturyLink Field with the same mentality.
It was an awesome game on Wednesday against Colorado. I thought we moved the ball well, connected our passes and [Marco] Pappa's goal was world-class. We held tight defensively once again and gave ourselves a good chance in that match.
It's our last stand at home on Sunday and it's the final match of an eight day, three match homestand. This match is against a very difficult Eastern Conference team. We look forward to the challenge and we'll see you all there.
Go Sounders!
