The Sounders FC will play its second road match of the 2015 season on Sunday when it takes on the LA Galaxy in Carson, CA. Club captain Brad Evans gives you his thoughts on the upcoming fixture in the latest Captain's Notes.
Second road test of the year. We’re coming off an interesting game against Houston where we were able to hold on to the victory despite going down a man on a controversial red card. From my angle, I thought Gonzo [Pineda] played the ball with no malicious intent. The team played well defensively and held it to zeros and Oba scored a fantastic goal. We got out of CenturyLink with three points. We’re happy with that.
Now we move on to LA and our preparations this week. We had a bit of a mixed lineup — didn’t know who was going to be healthy, who was going to be on the field, but everyone stuck to their guns this week. We have a very, very difficult task away from home this week.
We know LA’s results haven’t really gone their way but nevertheless, they are an extremely dangerous team. We approach this game like any game though. We always go on the road wanting three points. Historically, we’ve been the best team on the road when it comes to points and I don’t think anything changes. The team always changes but our mindset, our resolve and our toughness on the road never does. We’ve got to approach it just like that.
This is a team that has had our number in the past and left a sour taste in our mouth last post-season. I think that’s got to be in the back of everyone’s mind and we’ve got to play as if it was that game again. We have to come out, play an attacking game but be smart defensively and play to zero as always.
We’re definitely excited for this one. It’s a big, big test on national TV and we know our fans will be there in numbers like they always are.
Go Sounders!
