Sounders FC Players, Fans and Seattle Bank Employees Participate in United We Serve Event
Sounders FC players David Estrada and Servando Carrasco joined fans and volunteers on August 29th with the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust at Lake Sammamish State Park for the August United We Serve event. The event is a part of the Sounders FC United We Serve monthly community enhancement program.
Employees from Seattle Bank and members from the Emerald City Supporters and Gorilla FC supporters groups, as well as other Sounders FC fans, led the volunteer efforts. The group helped improve the park by removing invasive blackberry species along Issaquah Creek. The project is part of multiple restoration efforts from the Greenway Trust at Lake Sammamish State Park - which is home to a wide variety of amphibians, insects and other wild life, but currently suffers from invasive weeds, including blackberry. The group worked for approximately 4 hours and made fantastic progress along the creek.
The Seattle Sounders FC United We Serve community enhancement program in partnership with Seattle Bank, is a monthly side-by-side player and fan volunteer service program. The program provides support for grassroots community based leadership service projects that impact our local community. These projects are led by the Sounders FC fans, supporters, youth soccer players/coaches and civic organizations.
