NEW YORK– CONCACAF (Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football) will announce the groups and complete schedule of matches for the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup™ via a teleconference call on Thursday (2 April) at 12:00 pm EST.
CONCACAF General Secretary Chuck Blazer will unveil the three four-team groups for the 2009 Gold Cup, the confederation’s showpiece event for men’s national teams that crowns the regional champion.
The 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup™ will be played in a record 13 different US cities, opening at The Home Depot Center in Los Angeles on 3 July and concluding with the championship match 26 July at Giants Stadium outside New York.
The biennial Gold Cup will include the top 12 teams from the region and in 2009 features: Canada, Mexico and the USA from the North Zone; Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama from Central America; and Haiti, Grenada, Guadeloupe and Jamaica from the Caribbean.
